Baseball is the only major sport without a salary cap ! The diiference between haves and haves not remains the same ! the major league teams with minor league roster should have went on strike! The teams could have put a soft cap in place of a ceiling and a floor ! It seems to be working in hockey1 It is probably done in basketball as well! If there not going too do these things, then at least don't guarantee the contracts as is done in football ( which is the greastest sport because anyone can win! This is year number 20 that the Pirates won't have a winning season! It is apparent that none of the small market teams will get Albert Pulhois ! It allows the big market teams to continually cover up their errors in poor signings by continually spending more and more money ! If the small market teams make big signing mistakes they can't cover their mistakes up! There isn't any minimium standard of performance in baseball 1 offensive players could go through any entire year without getting a hit and it doesn't matter! they still get paid! teams can avoid agents like Scott Borias by taking an inferior player in the draft just too save money as well as raise prices on their fans after 20 years of losing!
